What you will see

A layered ownership structure mapped in real time.

Watch the platform trace a five-layer entity graph in action, surfacing each qualifying beneficial owner as it resolves.

The gaps flagged.

See the platform catch missing ownership data mid-resolution and route it back for human confirmation — no silent assumptions, no black box.

Onboarding to lifecycle, in one continuous flow.

Watch what happens to a customer relationship after the ownership question is answered.

Corporate onboarding for complex institutions routinely takes three weeks. Not because the regulatory requirement is unusually demanding, but because resolving beneficial ownership across layered entities is still done the way it was done a decade ago — chasing documents entity by entity, calculating effective ownership by hand, doing the real work outside any system that can prove it happened.

The fastest institutions do the same regulatory work in four days. Same requirement. Different architecture.

This episode is not a features walkthrough. It's an unscripted look at what changes when ownership resolution, screening, and lifecycle management sit inside one platform instead of six spreadsheets and a shared drive.

Answers to the questions attendees asked during our live demo of complex know your business (KYB) checks for onboarding institutional clients with layered ownership structures.
Can RelyComply's complex KYB be configured to accept or disregard specific document types?

Yes. You can set rules for which document types the platform accepts and which it disregards. Before applying them, the platform identifies what each document is, such as a share register, board minutes or a memorandum of incorporation, then extracts ownership and control information from the documents it accepts.

Can RelyComply verify each entity in an ownership chain against company registries and screen it for sanctions?

Yes. Once the ownership structure is extracted, a verification step checks each entity against the relevant company registry, such as CIPC in South Africa or Companies House in the UK. The platform then runs standard screening across the structure, including sanctions screening, Politically Exposed Person (PEP) screening and risk rating. Checks can be tiered, for example full identity verification for directors of the primary entity and a lighter check for downstream shareholders, since full verification of every party is impractical.

Can you choose which related parties are screened once an ownership structure is approved?

Yes. Once the structure is approved, the platform lists every entity and related party. Your configuration sets which related parties go through identity verification (IDV) and other screening, and each party stays linked to the original entity.

Who uploads the documents used to map a company's ownership structure?

Your compliance team or the entity being onboarded. Your team can source documents from the entity and upload them internally through Customer Lifecycle Management (CLM). Alternatively, the platform sends the entity a Customer Lifecycle Request: a secure link it uses to upload its own documents, with no portal log-in. Further documents can be requested the same way during a case assessment, and a KYB onboarding front end can gather documents across jurisdictions and entity types.

Can RelyComply run credit checks on company directors?

Yes, with a custom onboarding flow and the appropriate permissions, such as directors' consent. Credit checks can run alongside sanctions, PEP and adverse media screening, and the flow can be tailored to your onboarding and data-gathering requirements.

Can RelyComply check company information against CIPC automatically?

Yes. The platform connects to Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) data through a third-party integration, so no one logs in to the eServices portal. It combines that data with the document pack you upload, usually company registration (CoR) documents and beneficial ownership information, to build the entity structure, including every ultimate beneficial owner (UBO). Documents can also be collected directly through your website or another digital front end.

How does RelyComply deal with outdated or inaccurate company registry data?

By cross-checking the registry against the documents supplied and other data sources. The platform extracts the structure and details of every legal and natural person from the documents, then connects to other source-data systems through standard data integrations to enrich and confirm that information. Where sources conflict or information is missing, such as unaccounted-for equity, the platform flags an information gap and ranks it high, medium or low. Your team can then request further documents until any remaining gaps are immaterial.

How much does Complex KYB from RelyComply cost?

RelyComply shares pricing with each institution individually. Request a demo and our team will take you through the cost structure.
